So we have booked our flights!! I am so unbelievably excited even though it is 9 months until we leave. The itinerary at this stage is Rome, Madrid, Bilbao/San Sebastian, Friuli/Veneto, Malta, Sicily/somewhere else in the south of Italy – but there is still a lot of thinking, dreaming and planning to do for our 5 week break. We hope to spend Easter in Malta and enjoy the religious festivities, eat pinxtos in Northern Spain, spend the day with my zio Livio in Monfalcone for his 91st birthday in late March, visit some Italian gardens that Monty Don (the English TV presenter on horticulture) has inspired us to see, party in the Chueca barrio in Madrid, take fantastic photos for adorning the house in Melbourne and eat wonderful food along the way.
